15 December 2011 - 8:48AM

RWE Innogy Aersa, a unit of German renewable energy firm RWE Innogy, has acquired an additional 47.5% interest in Spanish wind farm operator Explotaciones Eólicas de Aldehuelas.

With this acquisition, RWE Innogy has increased its overall share in Explotaciones to 95% and its Spanish wind portfolio to 447MW installed capacity.

Explotaciones owns and operates a 47.2MW wind farm in the Spanish region of Castile-Léon near the city of Soria.

The Aldehuelas wind farm, which includes 59 wind turbines of the 800kW class, was commissioned in 2005.

Spain aims to have onshore wind energy projects with a total capacity of 35,000MW in operation by 2020.
