Iberdrola, Neoenergia sign loans for ten wind projects in Brazil

Iberdrola and Brazilian consortium Neoenergia will sign ten loan agreements for €300m with Banco Nacional do Desenvolvimento Economico y Social (BNDES) and with Banco do Brasil to build ten wind farms in Brazil.

The facilities Calango 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, Caetité 1, 2 and 3; Arizona 1; and Mel 2 wind farms are located in the states of Brazil, which will have a total generating capacity of 288MW.

Both companies have already started construction on four wind farms which are Caetité 1, 2 and 3 and Mel 2.

The partnership is expected to begin work on the other six wind farms over the coming months.

Gamesa will provide all the wind turbines for the ten facilities, which will be manufactured at its factory in Camaçarí, in the state of Bahía.

The project will supply energy to more than 450,000 households and prevents the emission of some 510,000 tons of CO2 every year
